Grease Recovery Units


• Grease Recovery Units:
Grease Recovery Units or GRU’s are designed to reduce the operational or cleaning cost of a conventional grease trap. Although the initial outlay is higher, owners will see worthwhile savings during the life of the unit.

Smaller Footprint:
GRU’s continually filter and remove Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) and food waste from crockery, pre-rinse and pot-wash operations. Their footprints are generally smaller than standard passive grease traps.

Efficient and Simple to clean:
Collected waste is virtually free of water, therefore it is commonly accepted that it may be disposed of and recycled along with waste cooking oils. Collected food waste from a GRU can be placed in bins or disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. A GRU in a busy kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner can easily remove between 6 and 8 litres of FOG per day.

Long intervals between full cleaning:
Although requiring strict daily staff maintenance, a GRU may only need to be fully emptied and cleaned on a yearly basis. Kitchen staff are required to empty and clean the food collection container and ensure the collected FOG is removed and the collection container cleaned.
